How to Purchase a Domain Name at Godaddy

The GoDaddy home page Godaddy.com has a form you can fill out with the domain name you are interested about and the extension (.com, .net, .org, etc.) you prefer. After submitting this form, GoDaddy will let you know if the domain name is available and will let you know of other possible options just in case your domain has already been taken. Select Your Domain Name and Press "Continue"

Place a checkmark next to the domain name you want to purchase and click continue. GoDaddy will nos offer to sell you a number of other domain names with your purchase at a discounted price. Make your choice by clicking the button of your preference. Fill in your Domain Name Registrant Information Your domain name registrant is the information you want tied to ownership of the domain name. Requests to transfer the domain name to another owner will always to send to the registrant's email address.

You can add several other contacts for the domain name, including a technical, billing and administrative contact. The default option is set to the contact information of the domain name owner. After you press the continue button. Click continue to move to the next step. Choose a Public or Private Domain Name Registration.

You might want to keep your domain name public if you are purchasing the domain name to sell at a later date. On this step, you may choose the duration of your registration. It is set to 2 years by default, but since registering for 2 years usually doesn't offer any price breaks, you can change this to 1 year. The domain name is by default set to automatically renew, so when it's 90 days before your domain name is set to renew you will receive an email notice, giving you the option to turn off the automatic renewal. Do not purchase anything you are not familiar with or do not need. Now press the "Continue" button. Select whether you want your domain name for one, two, three, five or ten years. I suggest you purchase it for one year.

You will also need to choose if you want auto or manual renewal, whether you want your new domain name to be certified or uncertified and whether you want a standard, deluxe or protected registration. Press the "Continue" button. You really do not need the standard or deluxe option just click on the "NO Thanks - Continue to Checkout" link. This link is hard to see but is usually right smack in the middle of the page. This will ensure paying only $9.99.

You will now have to review your shopping cart, select whether you want your domain name to be public or private, choose your payment option and read the "Domain Registration Agreement" and the "Universal Terms of Service." Press "Checkout Now." You can create an account if you are a new customer or login if you are a returning customer. Press "Continue With Checkout." Input your credit card, checking account, PayPal or gift card information and press "Checkout Now." Remember review everything before pressing checkout.
